Kobi Henry deal sets new USL transfer record

The move of Kobi Henry from Orange County Soccer Club in California to French first division side Stade de Reims has hit the sporting headlines for being the largest transfer deal in the history of the United Soccer League (USL).

The Beswicks Legal sports law team was proud to advise Orange County Soccer Club on the 18-year-old soccer sensation’s transfer agreement, bringing into play their extensive expertise and global football knowledge.

Sports Law Solicitor Tim Bailey said: “We have a great track record in advising clubs all around the world on player transactions and it was particularly pleasing to advise the current USL Championship winners Orange County Soccer Club in the transfer of their young star Kobi Henry to Stade de Reims of Ligue 1 in France.

“Kobi Henry is one of the leading United States men’s national soccer team prospects for the future, which was reflected in the record fee for the USL paid by Stade de Reims.

“Great credit needs to be given to Orange County for its Pathway to Professional model, which has seen players transferred to first division sides in Germany, Scotland and Sweden, and is fast becoming a blueprint for the successful development of young US players.

“We wish Kobi well as he takes the next step in his career and look forward to continuing our relationship with Orange County on future deals.”
